FOOD SAFETY

From Our Farms to Your Table, Your Safety and Health are Our Number One Concern.

What we do:
Your health is important to us. Produce is healthy and nutritious whether it is served with a meal or a snack and it should always be that way. In order to insure bacteria free produce from our farms, we have instituted a comprehensive and detailed food safety and traceability program. Here is a list of just the highlights of that program.

	All our farms have to meet rigorous GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) standards set by the USDA with periodic self audits, and annual third party audits.
	Safety in Harvesting is attained using GHP (Good Handling Practices) recommended by the USDA, worker hygiene and training, regular self audits and annual third party audits.
	Safety in Packaging in our Packing houses using GHP guidelines, worker hygiene and education, regular self audits and annual third party audits.
	Trucks are inspected for possible contamination prior to loading.
	Record keeping is maintained in enough detail to identify the origin of each package and shipment.
	A comprehensive recall plan is at the ready for immediate retrieval of any product should the unlikely event of contamination does occur.

What you can do:
Produce does not contain microbial bacteria internally. Contamination comes from the surface of the product. There are many steps you can take to protect yourself from these threats.

	Wash your hands thoroughly before handling fruits and vegetables.
	Wash surfaces and containers with hot soapy water.
	Wash your knife thoroughly before cutting with hot soapy water.
	Cut melons should be refrigerated at 41°F or below.
	Cut melons may be served without refrigeration for a maximum of 4 hours. After that time, any leftover melon should be discarded.
